This project was constrained to using six words and typography to create a statement about an issue that was personal and meaningful.
With “First impressions are everything and nothing”, I wanted the viewer to think about the stigma of first impressions and what it takes to get to know somebody. Society says to make a “good first impression” but often times this is in situations where we have to put on a facade in order to impress a someome.
I chose two contrasting colors to highlight the phrase “First impressions are nothing”. The purpose of this was to emphasize that although a first impression may be an extension of oneself, it barely gets to knowing someone’s true self. It’s a reminder to not pass judgements based on first impressions and to get to know people before forming opinions.
